Our Lady Of Velankany Church
Church of Our Lady of Velankanny is a Passionist Parish belonging to the Diocese of Kottapuram, Kerala. It is situated at the shore of Arabian Sea, the entire body of the Christian community consists of 550 Fishermen families.
The Sacramental ministry is the prime duty of the priests, which makes the community a witnessing community of the Gospel.The parishioners’ unshakable faith and their Participation in the church activities, full-fledged Sunday catechism classes boost the faith as well asmake our presence fruitful. Animation of Basic Christian communities is a means of understanding the reality of human life and suffering. Passionist Charism enables us to be one with them in their sufferings, and to bring message of hope to such crucified ones of today. Our life in the community enables us to engross happily in the Parish ministry. Over the 30 years of span the people in the parish have grown deep their faith and have achieved social and economic stability. Today it has become one of the model parishes in the Diocese.
